Implantable Pain Devices

Implantable and programmable intrathecal drug delivery systems allow us to deliver narcotic and other medications directly and continuously into the spinal fluid. This allows for placement of smaller doses of narcotics to be delivered to narcotic (opioid) receptors in the brain and spinal cord. With spinal cord stimulation, selectively placed implantable electrodes are placed in the epidural space, the space above the spinal fluid and spinal cord. These implantable electrodes are connected to an implantable and programmable battery device that allows a fine vibration to help modulate pain signals ascending to the brain.
